New York Set to Rollback Much of Controversial Bail Reforms

As the New York State Legislature continues to finalize the 2020-21 budget, one of the big sticking points for lawmakers is changes to the state's controversial criminal justice reform.

The changes are a result of contentious, months-long debate over cash bail and pretrial detention.

The proposal lawmakers presented expanded the list of crimes eligible for which a judge can set cash bail.
